Water Technology Opportunity

Project Objective

ERDCWERX invites interest from businesses that may benefit from commercializing water treatment and testing innovations developed by the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC).

Portable bleach generator for purifying and disinfecting drinking water in remote locations

High-Concentration Bleach Generator, a portable system that efficiently uses electro-chlorination to produce a 7% concentration for use in remote water treatment

A water sensing toolkit that rapidly collects, monitors, and reports water quality data from any water source

Water Diagnostics Operations Gear (WaterDOG), a portable toolkit that rapidly collects, monitors, and reports water quality data

These technologies can be combined within the breakthrough Water Assessment and Purification Toolkit (WAsP), providing portable, reverse osmosis water purification with electro-chlorination, UV sanitation, and water-monitoring capability.

Businesses interested in these innovations are encouraged to engage with ERDCWERX by completing a brief form describing their interest, market insights, and strengths in production, distribution, and other unique capabilities.

Numerous ERDC innovations are available for commercialization. These patented technologies, often prototyped and field-tested, offer market potential across military, civil, and commercial applications.

ERDCWERX is funded by ERDC to provide no-cost assistance to businesses with the capacity and interest to commercialize a diverse range of advanced innovations. ERDCWERX also manages a portal, www.erdcwerx.org, that allows for industry and academia to submit innovative solutions for consideration by ERDC.

How to Express Interest

Appropriate respondents will have experience and capability in the manufacture and/or distribution of products that involve the same or similar components, materials, or customer base. Participants will be contacted by ERDCWERX to further ascertain the level of interest and to support license application steps as appropriate. Submissions will be reviewed by ERDCWERX to assess the required assistance and determine suitability based on the following criteria:

  • Business viability and strengths capable of successful commercialization
  • Experience and insight shared

The submission of proprietary or confidential information is discouraged. A successful pathway may include the completion of an application proposing collaboration with ERDC through its streamlined evaluation and commercial license agreement process. Cooperative research opportunities are also available.
