The Additive Construction DOD Path to Adoption Workshop, hosted by the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) in collaboration with the Army Materiel Command, will be held on March 5-6, 2024, at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX, for Military Construction (MilCon) and Department of Defense (DOD) stakeholders to collaborate and create a roadmap for integration of additive construction into the MilCon and DOD construction process.
Why You Should Participate
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Texas Military Department, and engage in dynamic presentations primarily focused on 3D-printed buildings and challenges encountered in past and current projects. Other military-relevant structures will be discussed to supplement conversations on transition. Attendees will participate in interactive, facilitated breakout sessions that will focus on topics including:
- Challenges in Additive Construction
- Recommendations for achieving success
- Complexities of codes, standards, and testing
- Barriers to implementation
- Current process involving contracts, procedures, etc.
- Role of additive construction in MilCon, military and civil works projects
Conversations and discussion topics will be fluid based on input from attendees to create a roadmap across joint forces to outline adoption methods of DOD Additive Construction. The objective of this workshop is to agree across the services on a unified approach towards proper implementation of Additive Construction for the DOD.
